    Build a career in an industry that makes a difference in people's lives.  North Island Credit Union is rapidly expanding and has an immediate opening for a VP, Mortgage Loan Officer.  This position is responsible for originating residential conventional, government and portfolio loans products for North Island Credit Union, using self-generated sources, such as realtor networks, builder networks, community events, and centers of influence.  In addition, you must possess your own network of realtors, builders, etc., plus deepen the relationships of our existing members and the membership you acquire.  Monthly goals are clear and commission is attainable through self-motivated efforts of aggressively expanding North Island Credit Union’s footprint in San Diego County.

    Principal Accountabilities (95%)

    • Provides excellent service to members (external and internal) by establishing and maintaining client relationships.
    • Using a number of methods, including, but not limited to phone calls, in-person visits, branch referrals, community outreach and assigned sales territory to build a pipeline and portfolio of members with mortgage lending needs or opportunities. 
    • Works with realtors, transaction coordinators and escrow officers in dealing with a purchase transaction.  Ensure all steps are completed timely and provides the best member service experience.
    • Reviews credit union mortgage products and services to align with each member’s individual situation in order to provide the product or service that best fit the member’s needs.
    • Interviews members or potential members to determine individual financial needs; answers all questions relating to mortgage products/services; assists member with completing application process.
    • Promotes and maintain business relationships with mortgage brokers by offering North Island’s mortgage services, including periodic visits, answering calls and making office presentations.
    • In conjunction with department manager and the Marketing Department, provides input and recommendation to enhance North Island’s market position relating to mortgage lending and product penetration.

    Secondary Accountabilities (5%)

    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • Complies with BSA requirements as commensurate with position.

    Qualifications

    Position Requirement and Qualifications

    Abilities:

    • Excellent abilities in member service, accuracy, communication, detail-orientation, time-management, organization and presentation. Must be able to represent the credit union in a professional and positive manner. 

     

    Knowledge, Education, Certifications, Licenses: 

    • Strong working knowledge of mortgage loan terminology, documentation, loan policies, loan guidelines, and investor requirements. Must have working knowledge of FHA, VA and conventional guidelines for mortgage loan origination as well as applicable laws and regulations related to lending (e.g. Truth-in-Lending, HMDA, RESPA, ECOA, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and Bank Secrecy Act).
    • Knowledge and experience with mortgage LOS systems preferred. Must have strong PC skills including word processing and spreadsheets. Must have excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills. Must be detail oriented.
    • Must be registered or be able to successfully register as a Mortgage Loan Originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry, and to obtain and provide the associated identifier.

     

    Experience: 
    Five plus years of work experience as a mortgage loan officer in a financial institution or equivalent required to gain the knowledge, skills and abilities to handle all aspects of the position.
