    California Credit Union is seeking an experienced AVP, Payroll & HR Operations to join our growing HR team.  This position will report in Glendale CA.  This role will oversee Payroll, and establish HR Analytics and HR Operations practices to support employee inquiries and enable informed business decisions.  This role requires strong collaboration with stakeholders in all areas of the company and in HR.  This role will report to the SVP, Human Resources.

    Responsibilities

    California Credit Union is seeking an experienced AVP, Payroll & HR Operations to join our growing HR team.  This position will report in Glendale, CA.

     

    General Summary

    The AVP, Payroll & HR Operations role will oversee Payroll, and establish HR Analytics and HR Operations practices to support employee inquiries and enable informed business decisions.  This role requires strong collaboration with stakeholders in all areas of the company and in HR.  This role will report to the SVP, Human Resources.

     

    Principal Accountabilities (95%)

    Payroll:

    • Oversee payroll function to include payroll processing, payroll taxes, and developing policies and procedures. Expert Payroll knowledge required.
    • Ensure that accurate and timely payment of employees.
    • Develop and monitor payroll programs for effectiveness and compliance.
    • Leverage technology to reduce manual payroll processes.
    • Ensure internal controls are reviewed regularly to ensure payroll compliance.

    HR Analytics:

    • Establish the HR Analytics practices to enable better informed business decisions.
    • Partner with HR and other leaders to understand the desired metrics and develop reporting capabilities across the organization.
    • Provide support to the Human Resources function in the areas of people metrics and reporting.
    • Creates, maintains and ensures quality assurance of key human resources data sets, reports and metrics.
    • Maintain external benchmark data and participates in key surveys to ensure relevant metrics to support HR/business decisions.

    HR Operations:

    • Establish HR Operations practices to support employee inquiries pertaining to benefits, payroll, leaves of absence and other HR policy related matters.
    • Conduct effective resource planning to maximize the productivity of resources (people/technology).
    • Take ownership for resolving issues that arise and use the experience as a coaching and process improvement opportunity for the collective team.
    • Responsible for Internal HR Audits and HR Compliance.

    HR Systems:

    • Oversee system projects to include system planning, testing and implementation.
    • Establish and maintain effective partnership with IT leaders who support HR systems to ensure HR projects are prioritized and resourced to achieve a successful implementation.
    • Ensure system upgrades are planned and implemented to optimize the user experience.
    • Engage end users on a regular basis to understand system issues in order to recommend system enhancements. 

    Secondary Accountabilities (5%)

    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • Provides support to other areas of the department.
    • Complies with BSA requirements as commensurate with position.

     Knowledge, Education, Certifications, Licenses: 

    • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
    • Certified Project Management (PMP) preferred 

    Experience: 

    • Expert Payroll experience (Ceridian/Dayforce required)
    • Wage and Hour Law expertise required
    • Process development & improvement
    • 7+ years as an HR Operations leader (Payroll, HRIS, HR Call Center)
    • Developing dashboards/scorecards/metrics reporting
    • Prior data analysis and reporting
    • HRIS System experience
    • Prior experience with developing/implementing HR Operations
    • System implementations and upgrades experience
    • Internal Audit and compliance experience helpful
    • Experience in Banking, Credit Unions, or Financial Services helpful
