  • Overview

    The Financial Advisor (FA) Sales Assistant is responsible for achieving stated responsibilities and goals set by the CCU Financial Advisor/s. The FA Sales Assistant will help establish and identity potential clients for the Financial Advisor (FA) to offer the suitable investment products available through CCU Investment Services. The FA Sales Assistant helps set sales appointments for the FA/FA's by prospecting through telemarketing on CCU branch referrals and deposit lists (CD's, Savings accounts, etc.), helping with marketing programs, and investment seminar management.


    The FA Sales Assistant will acheive assigned weekly/monthly targets by the following critical components:

    • Prospecting within the credit union by establishing relationships with retail branch staff to find appropriate memebers and generate referrals/introductions.
    • Engaging in activities that enable access to those members who may not frequently use the retail branch to set appointments with FA/FA's.
    • Communicating effectively by establishing relationships with memebers and finding their needs so the client sees the value, understands the features and benefits of setting an appointment with the FA/FA's.


    • Collects and communicates financial data California Credit Union memebers to FA/FA's.
    • Helps FA/FA's to set appointments to aid in achieving FA's monthly gross commission goals.
    • Develops member leads through telemarketing, marketing programs, and referral programs.
    • Mailings- produces reports, creates mailing lists, produces letters, mails to clients (includes monthly review letters, referral follow-ups, etc.).
    • Processes new account applications if required by FA/FA's.
    • Processes money movement requests if required by FA/FA's.
    • Proposal requests from the FA such as communicating with various investment firms for quotes, hypothetical requests, product updates, and sales material requests.
    • Helps coordinate financial information seminars at the credit union or other locations for FA/FA's.
    • Provides prompt, efficient, and courteous service to both members and co-workers.
    • Works closely with other credit union departments and builds postivie relationships.
    • Consistently reports to work, on time, as scheduled.
    • Comply with CCU internal policies, state and federal laws, and Board Policy.
    • Help the FA/FA's to promote CCU Investment Services with organizations, school districts, labor unions, education organizations, community groups, local professional organizations.
    • Attends possible weekend and evening events to help the FA/FA's promote CCU Investments to prospects and members within CCU's filed of membership as needed.
    • Assists branch employees as required by FA/FA's.
    • Participation in possible special community and or marketing events outside of retail branch hours.
    • Make recommendations to FA/FA's based on feedback from members relative to service and products.

    Performance Measurements:

    • Satisfactory completion of established goals and objectives by FA/FA's.
    • Perform all duties outlined above in a timely and thorough manner with minimal errors.
    • Adhere to all credit union employment policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
    • Read appropriate material to remain current in marketplace standards.
    • Produce clear, grammatically correct written communication to all parties.

    1. High School diploma required, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
    2. Must have a minimum of one year of experience in the financial, insurance, and or credit union/bank industry, and at least one year of recent sales experience in a similar industry.

    Required Knowledge:


    Process general knowledge of the financial or banking environment.


    Experience Required:


    Must have minimum of one year of experience in the financial, insurance, and or credit union/bank industry and at least one year of recent sales experience in a similar industry.



    1. Must have excellent communication and customer service to effectively interact with all members, clients, co-workers, and management.
    2. Good attention to detail and organization.
    3. Computer proficiency in PC applications such as MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
    4. Ability to clearly and accurately communicate instructions or ideas to co-workers in an appropriate manner. Ability to comprehend normal business conversations.
    5. Ability to use the fingers to make small movements such as typing or picking up general office objects. Movements frequently and regularly are required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
    6. Ability to carry out instructions and exhibit problem solving skills.
    7. Ability to accurately perform basic math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division quickly.
    8. Exhibit effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read and comprehend job related materials efficiently. Ability to prepare written correspondence in a professional manner.

    Physical Activities and Requirements:


    Visual Abilities:  Visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents and products, or operate machinery.


    Physical Strength:  May be required to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.


    Setting:  The working conditions are a general business office with daily interaction with members, co-workers and management, sitting for extended periods of time, frequent up/down motion, reaching downward or overhead from sitting position, stooping and bending.
